MASSEY FERGUSON GC1725MB Sub Compact Tractor – It’s got one BIG PROBLEM

This is a very disappointing review on the latest Massey Ferguson GC1725MB Sub Compact Tractor as it has one BIG problem.

1. Shifting gear problem

The gearbox has a very unusual problem when you are trying to shift from forward to reverse, it has no RPM indicator to let you know whether you have selected reverse or not.

As the photo shows the gearbox is in neutral and I have checked it with my RLA probe. The point where the pin on the gearbox is at about 190rpm.

The gearbox has also gone through a good bit of wear and tear in one year. The gearbox is not running in reverse full time as there is no indicator to let you know whether the gearbox is in reverse or not.

If the gearbox had worked properly, my tractor would have been out all year working on the farm and I will be seeking compensation from Massey Ferguson as I can’t add on to the hours of work that I have lost.

2. Fix of Shifting gear problem

To Fix of Shifting gear problem please follow the below instruction. This is a very sensitive matter, so please take your time to follow the instructions properly and carefully.

Are Massey Ferguson Tractors Reliable?

The answer to this question largely depends on the model of the tractor in question and how it has been maintained. Generally speaking, Massey Ferguson tractors are considered to be reliable machines. This reputation is based on the fact that they are typically well-built and designed to withstand heavy use

However, as with any mechanical device, there is always the potential for something to go wrong. If a tractor has not been properly maintained, it is more likely to experience problems down the road.

One of the most important things you can do to keep your Massey Ferguson tractor running reliably is to change the oil regularly.

Depending on how often you use your tractor, you may need to change the oil every 50 hours or so. It’s also important to check other fluid levels regularly and top them off as needed. Keep an eye out for any leaks, as these can lead to serious issues if left unchecked.

Another good way to keep your tractor running reliably is to perform regular maintenance tasks such as greasing all of the moving parts, checking tire pressure, and inspecting belts and hoses for wear.

These simple tasks can help prevent larger problems from developing down the road. If you take good care of your Massey Ferguson tractor, it should serve you well for many years to come.

Because of its weight and size, the 5711 can put a lot of wear and tear on tires. It’s important to regularly check your tires for signs of excessive wear and tear, such as cracks or bald spots, and replace them when necessary.

Failure to do so could result in a blowout while you’re driving, which could be very dangerous.

4) Transmission problems

Some owners have reported transmission problems with their 5711 tractors. These can range from shifting issues to complete failure of the transmission. If you think your tractor might have transmission problems, it’s important to get it checked out by a qualified technician as soon as possible.

Massey Ferguson 5710 Problems

Are there any problems with Massey Ferguson tractors?

In the last year, I have had two tractors with Massey Ferguson G1725 MB Sub Compact Tractor. The first one had a gearbox problem which I repaired myself.

The second one had an axle nut that came loose after being worked on for about 3-4 hours, The axle nut locked and the tractor was off the road for about 50-60 days.

I have contacted Massey Ferguson and they were very helpful and communicated with me throughout the whole process.

The second time I had problems was when the Massey Ferguson tractor finally got to my place after one hour’s drive it was shifted into reverse and it did not shift back.

Massey Ferguson was very helpful in communicating with me through the whole process, they took care of everything, even paying for gas that I used to drive my tractor back to their facility at their expense.

The last one was a Used Massey Ferguson M14R Limited which I bought on Auto Trader but had some smaller problems with it.

Why does my Massey Ferguson tractor have a lock on?

The lock on is not very well placed, as it’s quite easy to accidentally move it into the lock position.

The good thing about this tractor is that the engine and transmission oil filter are very easy to get at which makes the maintenance task much easier than other tractors.

It will be easier for emergency maintenance like replacing the radiator water pump belt etc if you have access to your tractor.

The lock on is located just in front of the gear stick, a small plastic lever that has to be lifted before the gear stick can be moved.

This is a very handy feature as it will prevent you from shifting into the wrong gears if you’ve walked away from the tractor and it’s in gear with brakes engaged etc.

How does a Massey Ferguson transmission work?

There are two tractors in this section of the site. Most of the Massey Ferguson get their power from the engine via a transmission than on to differentials, drive shafts, axles and wheels to move the tractor around. Read more: Transmission Works How Massey Ferguson Works.

Why is my Massey Ferguson shift lever stuck in neutral?

There are many different problems that can cause your shift lever to stick in neutral. If the shift lever is stuck in neutral, all you need is a small screwdriver to turn the lever and it should work fine again.

However, if the shift lever is stuck in gear and you have tried everything from turning the ignition switch on and off to trying to push or pull on the gearshift over and over, it may be that the transmission needs replacing.
